Lightsail instance stopped to be reacheable from internet

0

Hi, overnight, without any changes being made, my lightsail instance became not accessible from the internet. it was working fine since December/23. I still can connect to the instance via lightsail console and i can see the service is running fine but became non-reachable either by me or any external ping services from different locations. I also checked and there is no peak usage and the instance is well on the green zone since its creation.

The instance is located in London, I have rebooted it, stopped/started but it seems to be a connection issue of the instance. What can I do here?

any ideas on where to look? is the service down in general?

Hello.

Judging from the status of Lightsail, there seems to be no problem on the AWS side.
Therefore, it is possible that some problem has occurred with the Lightsail OS.

By the way, how do you access it?
If you are accessing by domain using a browser, please try specifying a different DNS server etc.

  • Thanks! I do use a browser to access the service, i tried to access using the IP directly too, but no luck. i've tried different PCs / networks. without success. there is also no PING response to the IP. so it seems like it was blocked via firewall, but i havent changed anything since december and the FW rules are correct.

any further suggestions we very welcome!

  • Please check not only Lightsail's firewall but also your OS's firewall. Also, if I create a Lightsail snapshot and restore from the snapshot, will I be able to connect? https://docs.aws.amazon.com/lightsail/latest/userguide/understanding-instance-snapshots-in-amazon-lightsail.html

Hello,

In some cases where your instance is inaccessible, creating an instance snapshot and then creating a new instance may restore the connection for the new instance. If this issue persists with your new instance, please send a customer ticket and we will take a look.

Thanks, Leslie
