Elasticsearch 7.7 Update by March 29, 2023 comment

I was looking at the verison info for our ElasticSearch version 7.7 and there was a comment in the version info page that read "Update by March 29, 2023". Does that simply mean this version will no longer be supported, or that it will cease to function on that date?

AWS currently does not have an End of Life policy for OpenSearch/ElasticSearch versions. However, we always recommend our customers to upgrade to the latest version to benefit from new features, bug fixes and performance improvements. As for the end of life, if and when AWS will plan to end support for a specific version, AWS will provide initiation via emails regarding the same and also provide enough notice period (12-18 months) for customers to be able to upgrade their domains.
