Monitron Scan Sensor Failed Message

0

While scanning detached Monitron sensors to verify location for re-installation, some sensors will produce a message that will read the following; 'Scan Failed. You don't have permission to view the sensor. Update location permissions in the app and try again.' I am an admin user, but am not seeing any location settings in the app to modify. I am successfully scanning and verifying the location of numerous other sensors with the same device. This is only an issue with certain sensors. Any insight and info on this is much appreciated.

Edit: How to update site permissions in the app?

This issue you're experiencing with certain Amazon Monitron sensors is likely related to site permissions or sensor commissioning. Here are a few things to consider:

  1. Site Permissions: Even as an admin user, you may not have access to all sites. The error message suggests that you don't have permission to view some sensors, which could be because they were commissioned for a different site that you don't have access to.

  2. Sensor Commissioning: If a sensor hasn't been properly commissioned for your current site, you won't be able to read its position details. This could explain why you're able to scan some sensors but not others.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following:

  1. Check your site permissions in the Amazon Monitron app. Make sure you have access to all relevant sites where these sensors might have been commissioned.

  2. If you're certain you should have access to these sensors, try updating the site permissions in the app and attempt to scan the sensors again.

  3. For sensors that consistently fail to scan, you may need to re-commission them for your current site. This process involves deleting the sensor from its previous site (if possible) and then commissioning it again for your current site.

  4. If you continue to experience issues, it's best to contact AWS Support for further assistance, as they can provide more specific guidance based on your account and sensor setup.

Remember, when scanning sensors, ensure your phone is held close to the sensor (within about two centimeters) and remain still during the scanning process. Also, make sure your phone has a stable internet connection and NFC is activated, as these are necessary for successful sensor scanning and commissioning.
