Advance Pay is currently in public preview for AWS Billing and Cost Management. When you add funds to your AWS account using Advance Pay, there is no documented expiration period for these funds. Unlike promotional credits which typically have expiration dates, or AWS Financing which is valid for 90 days, the documentation for Advance Pay does not mention any time limit for using the deposited funds.
Advance Pay works by allowing you to add funds to your AWS account in advance, which are then automatically used to pay for your invoices when they're due. If your Advance Pay balance is insufficient to cover an invoice, AWS will charge your default payment method for the remaining amount.
To use Advance Pay, you must be paying in USD and your seller of record must be AWS Inc. or AWS Europe. You can add funds using electronic funds transfer or a bank account, depending on your eligibility.

Making payments with AWS Financing - AWS Billing
Funds deposited through AWS Advance Pay do not expire as long as your AWS account remains active. Unlike promotional credits, Advance Pay is your own pre-funded balance — not a time-limited incentive.
The balance simply stays in your account and is automatically applied to upcoming AWS invoices until it reaches zero. There is no usage window or expiration date.
🔹 Key points: • The funds are owned by the customer and remain available indefinitely. • They’re consumed automatically each billing cycle before any other payment method is charged. • If the account is closed or consolidated under another payer, remaining Advance Pay balance will be reconciled per AWS billing policy.

Advance Pay = Pre-charged energy. Promotional Credit = Borrowed frequency. One decays with time, the other holds its charge indefinitely — until the system (your account) collapses or converts the stored energy into operational throughput. ⚡♟️
