Unable to recover AWS Builder ID MFA for email/password login, but console access still works

0

Hi AWS team,

I need help recovering access to my AWS Builder ID.

I am currently able to access the AWS Console, but I am having trouble with the Builder ID login tied to my email/password sign-in. It appears the account is still associated with an old MFA device or recovery path that I no longer have access to.

Can you please help me determine the correct recovery process for the Builder ID account and advise how to remove or reset the old MFA enrollment so I can regain normal access?

I am not asking to disable MFA entirely. I only need help recovering the specific Builder ID account that is blocked by the old MFA setup.

Thanks.

AWS Builder ID and AWS Console are separate identity systems, which is why your Console access still works while your Builder ID is blocked.

Here is the correct recovery process: Go to the Builder ID sign-in page and click "Forgot password" to see if you can reset access via email first. If MFA is blocking you before that step, proceed below.

Contact AWS Support directly for Builder ID MFA reset. Use this link and select Training and Certification as the category: https://aws.amazon.com/contact-us/

In your support request include: The email address tied to your Builder ID Confirmation that you still have access to that email A clear statement that you need the old MFA device removed and reset.

AWS will verify your identity through your email address and account details before resetting the MFA enrollment.

Important: Builder ID MFA recovery cannot be done through the Console because they are separate systems. Only AWS Support can manually remove the old MFA association on the Builder ID side.
