Cannot obtain rDNS entry for Lightsail instance

0

I want to set up reverse DNS record (PTR) for my Lightsail instance IP. I tried to fill in the form that is specified in the docs a couple of times, however, I've recieved a denial every time (without any clarification, probably sent by a robot). I don't understand what do I have to do to get the rDNS entry. I don't want to run a mail server, this is for other purposes which are totally not related with E-mail servers and spam, so SES is not a solution. What do I do to get an approval for rDNS update?

Hello.
As described in the following document, it is necessary to operate as the root user when inquiring.
Are you operating as the root user?
https://lightsail.aws.amazon.com/ls/docs/en_us/articles/amazon-lightsail-configuring-reverse-dns

The request must be submitted using the AWS account root user. For more information about the AWS account root user, see The AWS Account Root User.

Also, please note that use cases and other details must be described in detail or the application may not be approved.

  • Yes, I definitely operate as root. I've provided use case and spam prevention measures in full detail. Still I get a negative answer.

The comment that I sent is the following: «I want to set up my own self-hosted E-mail server to communicate with colleagues without using proprietary services (like GMail) which can store and read trough my private data. Also, I want to have all personalization options (like advanced filtering) which other e-mail servers can't provide. I understand all the risks and guarantee that I will take all possible safety measures to prevent the spreading of unwanted email from my account. I will use proper DNS records for the E-mail server (including SPF, DKIM and DMARC) and strong authentication methods for my server. This is to ensure that only I will be able to send e-mails from the instance's IP address, so it will be not marked as spam.» Maybe I didn't specify something crucial?

Hi,

Can I get a clarification that if your request to Remove Email Sending Limitations was denied by AWS support? If that's the case, can you please contact the customer support so Lightsail service team will be able to assist you.

Thanks.

    1. Yes, the E-mail was signed by «AWS Trust & Safety».
    2. AWS doesn't have technical support on free plan, so I don't know how to contact them.

SAme here. I get a ROBOMAIL telling me to FO. But it is assuring that the template tells me it came to the conclusion after "thorough review".
