EBS Snapshot and Volume Backups

Question

What's the difference between Create volume from Snapshot and Create Snapshot from Volume? If I do the latter, I still have to create a volume in order to attach it to an instance.

Create snapshot from volume creates an EBS snapshot from an existing volume. This is then stored as a backup or to recreate as another volume.

Create volume from snapshot recreates an EBS volume from a snapshot that you have taken.
