Unable to re-add AWS account to (desktop) Apple Mail client

0

I am unable to re-add my AWS workmail account to Apple Mail on either a MacBook Pro or an iMac (both running latest software updates)

Documented AWS procedure works perfectly on iPhone and iPad. On desktop, I can add it as an IMAP account though that means I lose calendar syncing

The account has been connected for several years, though because calendar stopped syncing (which is where the problem started), I deleted the account and then tried to re-add. Now when I go through the add account steps I am met with "unable to verify account name or password" and can go no further. The account name and password pair work seamlessly on iPhone and iPad as well as logging in direct to Workmail

I have another account linked through Microsoft Exchange (and tested it by deleting and re-adding - all worked fine)

Does anybody else have this experience? Can anyone guide me please? Thank you

Hi,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing problems adding you're mail account for the Mail desktop app. What version of the application are you using? Also are you using the email address to log on?

Kind regards, Robin

  • Thanks Robin Answers to your questions

    1. Using Mail version Version 16.0 (3731.200.110.1.12) running Ventura 13.0.1 on a silicon iMac with M1 chip
    2. Yes I'm using my AWS hosted email address to log on.

I'm grateful for any help though not sure how those answers address whatever you have in mind. What are you thinking?

  • Hi,

I wanted to check what version you're using so I can ask the service team to confirm it works (which the service team confirmed does) and for the email address, does the domain also have the autodiscover record?

  • Thanks Robin. Yes autodiscover is on. Still not able to connect Apple Mail. Do you have any other thoughts? Is this problem unique to me or are other AWS/Apple customers experiencing the same problem?

  • Hi,

I've checked with the team and no other reports have come up about the same issue. The team also double checked with testing that configuration works.

A suggestion from the team is to add a email alias with the .awsapps.com domain to your user and try to configure the user with that email address. The configured user will still use the primary email address once configured.

    Kind regards, Robin
