Create custom shortcut through the AppStream 2.0 Windows Client

0

A customer has some VDI workloads On-Premise and is evaluating AppStream 2.0 to migrate its VDI workloads. Today, the customer is able to create custom desktop shortcut for each VDI application. They just have to double-click on the shortcut and the application is launched. What's more, users are authenticated.

Is there a way to create custom shortcut for each golden image used within an AppStream 2.0 fleet through the client and/or authenticate in the same time these users?

It sounds like you're asking for users to immediately land in an application in AppStream 2.0 after they have authenticated. Is that correct?

If yes, you can configure SAML federation with a "relay state" URL and add an "app" URL parameter so that a user is immediately placed into an application (so they don't have to go into the Catalog UI first). See the second example here - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/appstream2/latest/developerguide/external-identity-providers-setting-up-saml.html#external-identity-providers-relay-state

Many identity providers provide you with direct URLs to applications, so you could create a shortcut on a user's desktop that directly links to that application in the identity provider. If they're already authenticated, it would be single click. Otherwise, the user would need to authenticate.
