To get AWS support for releasing your domain, you’ll need to open a support case through your AWS account, especially if it’s registered with Route 53. Here are the steps:
- Sign in to the AWS Management Console and go to the AWS Support Center.
- Select "Create Case" and choose the Account and Billing Support or Technical Support category.
- Specify your issue, including that you’re trying to transfer out a domain and that the new registrar isn’t receiving authorization.
For Route 53 domain transfers, AWS typically expects:
- Authorization Code: Ensure you’ve provided this to your new registrar. You can find it in the Route 53 console under Registered Domains.
- Domain Unlocking: Check if your domain is unlocked in Route 53, as locked domains can’t be transferred.
- Registrar Requirements: AWS sometimes requires additional verification (like an updated email) with Route 53 domain transfers.
Your question reminds me of this one from three years ago https://repost.aws/questions/QU64DGzHZ7SPmqKzy_dTcdTw/could-not-transfer-com-au-domain-out-from-route-53
The answer from an AWS-badged user was to raise a support call with AWS to resolve this. Even if you're on a Basic Support plan (which would preclude you from raising a support call most of the time) you can still do so under Account and Billing -> Service: Billing -> Category: Domain Registration Issue

AWS provides a Basic support plan, free of charge, for all AWS customers. The plan includes assistance for the following issues related to domain registration:
- Transferring domains to or from Amazon Route 53
