Not able to Import Pooled Amazon Pinpoint SMS Two-way Texting number into Amazon Connect Instance

0

Amazon Pinpoint SMS said you must make sure all Two Way SMS numbers are imported into your Amazon Connect instance in order to route SMS Text from Customers to your Amazon Connect instance. I was able to set up Two way Texting for my SMS number. I do not see or understand how to import my SMS number into my Amazon Connect instance. When I go to my Amazon Connect instance, all I see is my one Toll-free number listed. I do not see my approved SMS number in the list. Can someone explain what I am missing? Thank you.

Once you have an approved SMS number you can import it into Amazon Connect by completing Step 2: Enable two-way SMS on the phone number in the Amazon Connect documentation below: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/connect/latest/adminguide/setup-sms-messaging.html

Ensure you have an existing IAM role with the correct IAM policies for Amazon Connect that can be used by Pinpoint to send the message: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/sms-voice/latest/userguide/phone-numbers-two-way-sms.html#phone-number-two-way-connect-iam-policy

After you register it in Amazon Pinpoint, the number activation process can take up to 15 business days.

Once the number is fully approved and activated by the carriers, Amazon Connect will automatically show the “Import number” option under Phone Numbers → Manage Phone Numbers.

Right now, since your number isn’t active yet, Connect won’t display it. As soon as activation is done, you’ll be able to import it into your Connect instance and enable two-way messaging without any issues. !
