Yes, AWS has finalized the decision to end support for AWS Copilot CLI. According to the official announcement, AWS Copilot CLI entered maintenance mode on November 4, 2024, and will reach end-of-support on February 3, 2025.
During the current maintenance mode period (November 4, 2024 - February 3, 2025), AWS Copilot CLI will only receive critical bug fixes and security updates. Existing applications that use this CLI will continue to function as intended, unless there is a breaking change to how AWS services used by AWS Copilot CLI work, which AWS notes is uncommon.
After February 3, 2025, the AWS Copilot CLI will no longer receive any updates or bug fixes. The GitHub repository will be archived and made read-only, though users can continue to use, access, and fork the CLI on GitHub.
If you have feedback about this change, you can open a discussion on GitHub or contact AWS through your usual AWS Support channels.

Yes, AWS Copilot CLI deprecation is confirmed. End-of-support is June 12, 2026 — after which no features, bug fixes, or security updates will be provided. The GitHub repo will remain available as open-source.
Migration paths forward:
-
Amazon ECS Express Mode (recommended for most) — deploy production-ready containerized apps with a single command. Automates ALB, auto-scaling, HTTPS/TLS, networking, and CloudWatch Logs. Supports CloudFormation, CDK, and Terraform.
-
AWS CDK L3 Constructs — for teams needing fine-grained infrastructure control in familiar programming languages.
-
ECS Native Blue/Green Deployments — built-in canary, linear, and all-at-once strategies with lifecycle hooks and automatic rollback, no CodeDeploy required.
