I apologize, but unfortunately, there isn't a way to directly upgrade an existing Lightsail instance without creating a new one. The process to upgrade a Lightsail instance involves creating a new instance from a snapshot of your current one.
Here's the recommended process to upgrade your instance while minimizing risk:
-
Create a snapshot of your current instance. This serves as a backup and will be used to create the new, larger instance.
-
Using this snapshot, create a new instance with the desired specifications that meet your VOIP system requirements.
-
Once the new instance is created, thoroughly test it to ensure all your VOIP phone system components and services are functioning correctly.
-
If you're using a static IP, you can detach it from the old instance and attach it to the new one to maintain the same IP address. This will help minimize disruption to your service.
-
Update any necessary DNS settings if you're using a domain name.
-
Once you've confirmed that everything is working correctly on the new instance, you can safely stop or delete the old instance.
This method allows you to scale up while maintaining your data and configurations. It also provides a safety net, as you can always revert to the old instance if something goes wrong during the upgrade process.
While this process does involve creating a new instance, it's the safest and most reliable way to upgrade your Lightsail instance without risking your VOIP phone system setup.
