aws route 53 hosted zone

Question

Hi I don't work in IT and did a course in cloud computing where I had to purchase my own domain using route 53. What i gather it automatically created a hosted zone for me by doing so.
I don't need the domain at the moment but may decide to use it later. Can i recreate the same hosting zone after if I delete it now? I don't want to be billed if not used.

This covers how to delete the hosted zone, but also some details around what you need to be aware of. It will answer your question about avoiding be charged for the hosted zone as well as if you don't want traffic to goto your site.
