The TagValue you have provided is invalid

I am sending an "&" and a few other AscII characters as a keyValue when tagging documents in S3, but I am getting the following error:

The TagValue you have provided is invalid

The documentation says we should be able to send all ASCII characters. Please let me know how to get around this or please fix the tagging in S3.
