Failed to transfer .xyz domains to Route53

I tried transferring two .xyz domains to Route53 and the transfer for both fails quickly with a very generic error:

We can't finish transferring your domain. Contact AWS Support at https://console.aws.amazon.com/support/home#/ for further information.

Is raising a tech support ticket the only way to resolve this?

Yes, please raise a ticket to the AWS support team. If your support plan is not qualified for technical support, just file an account support ticket instead.
