If you've subscribed to Amazon Q Developer Pro but it's not showing as Pro in VSCode after 3 hours, there are several potential solutions:
-
If you recently switched from the Free tier to the Pro tier, try signing out of Amazon Q in the IDE and signing back in again.
-
If you were subscribed as part of a group, be aware that there might be a delay of up to 24 hours between when you're added to the group and when your subscription becomes active.
-
Verify that your access to the Amazon Q Developer Pro managed application hasn't been revoked or deleted.
-
Check your authentication method in VSCode:
- Click on the Amazon Q icon in the sidebar
- Select "Use with Pro license" and click "Continue"
- Enter your IAM Identity Center URL (Start URL) and set the appropriate region
- Follow the authentication process to sign in
- After signing in, confirm that you're using the correct credentials for the user that has the Pro subscription.
While the chat mentioned activation typically takes 30 minutes to 1 hour, in some cases it can take longer. If you've verified all the above steps and are still experiencing issues after 24 hours, you may need to contact AWS support for further assistance.

Just to clarify: I already posted a reply with more details, but in summary my issue is that in the Q Developer console no Free plan appears in my Builder ID profile, so I cannot see any Upgrade to Pro option. In VS Code, the extension also does not show “Use with Pro license”. This looks like a provisioning issue with my Builder ID, not just a login or configuration mistake.
