AWS Greengrass console for core device out of sync with actual device

0

I have a greengrass device which appears to be setup functioning and setup correctly - it is a member of a thing group, and it receives deployments which are sent to that group. However

  • the AWS console page for that unit does not show the current state of the unit - it shows a state from "2 months ago"
  • all the components which are listed for that device also show status of "2 months ago"
  • The "Systems Manager component also show the same status - however, it can be used to connect successfully to the unit though the "Systems Manager Actions->Start session" button

Why would his greengrass state be long out of sync - and yet appears completely functional ?

Hello,

This can happen if the you have reinstalled Greengrass on the device using the same thing name without deleting the Core Device. You can delete the Core Device via the Console. After maximum 24hrs, the Core Device will reappear with the current configuration.

Thanks.

  • Thanks for that feedback - do you know is there any official doco on this requirement or is this from observation ? I'd like to know if this should be a standard procedure as there are i certainly have done this in the past and going forward this needs to be done on any device which is being re-imaged, disk/sd-card swapped, etc.
