Yes, this behavior is expected. According to AWS Application Migration Service documentation, Linux kernel versions up to 6.8 are supported by the AWS Replication Agent. When you upgraded your Ubuntu 24.04 instance and the kernel was updated to 6.14.0-1010-aws, you exceeded the maximum supported kernel version, which is why you encountered the "Your Linux kernel version is not supported" error.
The fact that the installation was successful when you booted using kernel 6.8.0-1024-aws confirms this limitation, as this kernel version falls within the supported range. When planning migrations using AWS Application Migration Service, it's important to ensure your source machines are running supported kernel versions, and you may need to manage kernel updates carefully to maintain compatibility.
For Linux source servers, the kernel headers version should also match exactly with the running kernel version for successful installation of the AWS Replication Agent.

I have upgraded Linux 24.04 kernel to 6.8.0-1047-aws and that stopped the Elastic Disaster Recovery to work. I cannot install that anymore and keep getting error. Do we know when this compatibility will be resolved?

Linux kernel 6.8 is quite old. Why AWS Application Migration Service can't keep up with new Linux kernels? Would staying on older kernel causing potential risks?
