Datasync agent VM - not refreshing

0

Hi All - Could you please help with the issue below regarding Datasync? Please find the details below:

  1. We have a Datasync agent VM (VMware ESXi hypervisor) deployed in our on-prem network. On the AWS side, the Datasync agent ID was active and used for file transfer tasks without any issues.
  2. Recently, we created a new subnet in AWS and decided to move the Datasync agent ID and related tasks to the newer subnet.
  3. The Datasync agent ID is showing as deleted in the console, and the related tasks have also been deleted.
  4. The Datasync VM still displays the old agent ID that has already been deleted, and therefore, it is unable to generate a new activation key. Port 80 is still refusing connections in the Datasync VM.
  5. We tried a full shutdown of the VM and restarted it, but even after logging in, it still displays the old agent ID (that's deleted).
  6. The "test network connectivity" option in the Datasync VM displays the IP address of the old VPC endpoint, which was also deleted, and a new VPC endpoint was created. Network connectivity to the old VPC endpoint IP shows as timed out.
  7. We have performed similar work in the past, where as soon as the agent ID is deleted in the console, it is reflected in the VM within a few minutes, allowing port 80 connection in the VM to generate a new activation key. However, this time the VM is stuck, and the old agent ID and old IP address of the Datasync VPC endpoint are still showing three days after they were deleted.

Could someone please help with resetting the VM and making it available for connection to create a new agent ID?

Thanks Pradeep.

Hello, Deleting the DataSync agent from the AWS Management Console, CLI, or API will reset the agent and activation key so that the agent can be reactivated. However, in scenarios where the agent is unable to communicate with the AWS DataSync service at the time the agent is deleted, the agent will not reset to an activation state. In these situations it is advised to re-deploy the DataSync agent. Thanks
