The AWS Resource Explorer service maintains indexes of resources in your AWS account, but is eventually consistent. This means that when a resource is deleted, it may still be visible in Resource Explorer for a period of time as the deletion propagates across the indexes.
Some key points:
Resource Explorer indexes data from multiple sources to build its view of resources.
If a resource is deleted, it is removed from the source data but this change must then be replicated to all the indexes used by Resource Explorer.
This replication process can take time, so recently deleted resources may still appear in search results until the change is fully replicated.
The replication timeframe can vary, but AWS documentation states it can potentially take up to 36 hours for a deletion to be fully reflected in Resource Explorer.
