I understand your frustration with being charged monthly for an AWS account you no longer use or have access to. Unfortunately, I cannot directly cancel your AWS account for you through this conversation.
Since you don't have access to the original email address associated with the account, you'll need to contact AWS Support directly. You can do this without logging in by using the account support form (go.aws/account-support).
When contacting AWS Support, provide as much information as possible to verify your identity and ownership of the account, such as:
- Any details you remember about the account
- The name on the account
- The billing address associated with the account
- Information about the credit card being charged
In your support request, clearly explain that you no longer have access to the original email account but want to properly close the AWS account to stop the recurring charges.
Do not simply block the charges from your credit card, as this could lead to complications. Working directly with AWS Support is the proper way to resolve this situation.
If you do regain access to your account, you'll need to:
- Terminate all running resources (like EC2 instances, VPC resources, etc.)
- Go to Account settings
- Scroll to the bottom to find the "Close Account" option
