Issue with 'ElicitSlot' in Amazon Lex - SlotCaptureResponse:CodeHook:Success (I do not have 'ElicitSlot' as Next Step)

0

Hello AWS community,

I’m encountering an issue while building my bot in Amazon Lex. When I try to deploy it, I receive the following error:

'ElicitSlot' next step at 'SlotCaptureResponse:CodeHook:Success' in slot 'matricula' of intent 'DarMatriculaDNI' contains invalid slotToElicit setting. slotToElicit must be a required Slot within the intent. Change the slot name in slotToElicit and try your request again.

However, when I check the configuration of my slot matricula, I don't have any ElicitSlot set as the next step in the conversation. Under the Slot Capture: Success Response configuration, the next step is set to Invoke dialog code hook, and there is no explicit reference to ElicitSlot.

Why is Amazon Lex throwing this error if I am not explicitly setting ElicitSlot as the next step? How can I resolve this issue?

I’d appreciate any help or suggestions.

The error you're encountering suggests that there's a mismatch between your intent configuration and what Amazon Lex is expecting. Even though you haven't explicitly set 'ElicitSlot' as the next step in your slot configuration, it seems that somewhere in your dialog code hook or Lambda function, an 'ElicitSlot' action is being triggered.

This error typically occurs when the bot tries to elicit a slot that is not marked as required for the intent. In your case, it's trying to elicit the 'matricula' slot, but this slot might not be set as required in your intent configuration.

To resolve this issue, you can try the following steps:

  1. Double-check your intent configuration and ensure that the 'matricula' slot is marked as required for the intent 'DarMatriculaDNI'.

  2. Review your Lambda function or dialog code hook. It's possible that the code is attempting to re-elicit the 'matricula' slot, even if it's not explicitly set in the Lex console. Look for any 'ElicitSlot' actions in your code that might be targeting this slot.

  3. If you need to re-elicit the 'matricula' slot at any point in the conversation, make sure it's marked as required in the intent configuration. Slots that are not required cannot be elicited using next steps unless they are marked as required for the intent.

  4. If you're using a Lambda function to process slot values, ensure that it's not inadvertently setting the dialog action type to 'ElicitSlot' for the 'matricula' slot.

  5. Check if you have any conditional branching or complex conversation flows that might be leading to an 'ElicitSlot' action for this slot.

Remember, even if you don't see 'ElicitSlot' explicitly set in the Lex console, it can be triggered by your code hook or Lambda function. The key is to ensure that any slot you want to elicit (whether through the console settings or your code) must be marked as required for the intent.
