There could be many things, which might be causing this, to get started, I'd go first with troubleshooting instance guide.
Did you try stopping and starting the instance? When you start the instance after stopping, refer this guide to monitor system instance status check. This may help you.
Is this the newly created instance or was it running fine earlier and you just started seeing this issue when you restarted the instance. I've seen this happening in case of full disk and instance will keep failing it's health check. If that's the case, then you can consider stopping the instance and attach an EBS volume with larger capacity.

Did you try stopping and starting the instance? When you start the instance after stopping Yes, We restarted. Status checks failing intermittently. Is this the newly created instance or was it running fine earlier and you just started seeing this issue when you restarted the instance. Its running for 1 year. Suddenly its went into unresponsive.
Centos 7 instance.

Select your ec2 instance, go to status checks tab(between storage and monitoring tabs) and see what error message you are seeing there. Based on that error message, it'd give more clarity where to look at. Also there is feature of report health status check failures from [Report Status Check].(https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/monitoring-system-instance-status-check.html#reporting_status).
