How to activate Amazon Q Business free trial

0

Hello, I’ve been trying to figure out how to activate the free trial for Amazon Q Business, but I’m getting a little stuck. I saw that it offers a 60-day free trial, but I’m not exactly sure where to go in the AWS Console or what steps I need to take to get started. I made an Amazon Q Business application, and when I went to add an index it said I would be charged for whatever is provisioned.

Could someone please explain how the free trial works for Amazon Q Business? I’m not sure if creating indexes or connecting data sources is covered under the trial, or if I’m missing a step to activate it properly. I just want to make sure I’m not accidentally getting billed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

To activate the Amazon Q Business free trial, you need to follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the AWS Management Console and open the Amazon Q Business console.

  2. Create an Amazon Q Business application by selecting "Create application" and providing a name for your application.

  3. Select "Web experience" as the outcome (this is selected by default).

  4. Complete the application setup process, which includes adding users from your IAM Identity Center.

The Amazon Q Business free trial offers 50 users for 60 days. When you create an application and add users, you're automatically using the free trial allocation. You don't need to specifically activate the trial - it begins when you start using the service.

Regarding your concern about being charged when adding an index: While the free trial covers the basic subscription for 50 users, certain resource-intensive operations like indexing large amounts of data might incur charges. To avoid unexpected charges, carefully review what's included in the free trial on the Amazon Q Business pricing page.

If you're concerned about billing, you can monitor your usage in the AWS Billing console. If you notice any unexpected charges, you can cancel your subscription by going to the Amazon Q Business console in the Northern Virginia region (us-east-1) and following the steps to manage user subscriptions.
