WorkDocs external user pricing

0

The WorkDocs pricing page mentions a certain monthly cost as the "WorkDocs user fee/month". In us-east-1 it's currently $5/month.

I assume this is the same cost per user regardless of whether it's an external user or one that's within one's directory service (like Simple AD)?

Here's a scenario:

  • You invite your customer (an external user) via email address to view a file. The customer follows the invite-link in their email and are prompted to create a password. Is this the moment the WorkDocs bill goes up by $5/month?
  • Your customer views the file and never needs to grab another file from WorkDocs ever again. Do you still keep paying $5/month for that user? If so, how do you disable the user? I assume they didn't get stored in your directory service? Would you just need to un-share all files they had access to to make them not a user anymore?

It depends on whether you're adding the external users to your WorkDocs site as a managed user (which will also give them 1TB of storage) or if you're sharing the file with them as a "guest user". There is no charge for guest users.
