instance status unknown - stop process hung

We have a lightsail instance in Oregon, Zone A (us-west-2a) that has a status 'unknown' and we're unable to stop it - tried to stop it over an hour ago and it's still trying to stop, still in a 'stopping' state

Any suggestions besides waiting it out?

Hi, thanks for using Lightsail. We checked your instance in us-west-2a and it is under running state now. Did you still meet the same issue with it?

We waited around 3 hours and the instance eventually stopped and we were able to re-start it.
