Issue with EC2 Instance Access (Basic Support Plan)

0

I'm facing an issue with my EC2 instance using the Ubuntu AMI. I'm on the Basic support plan, so I understand technical support is not available. However, any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Configuration:

EC2 Instance: Ubuntu AMI VPC: Default VPC Subnets: Default subnets Problem: I can't access the public IP or connect via SSH/GUI. The public IP is unreachable, and I've confirmed that the security group allows inbound traffic (port 22 for SSH). Network ACLs and the internet gateway are also correctly set up.

Troubleshooting:

Checked security group: Inbound SSH traffic (port 22) allowed. Verified network ACLs: Default settings allowing inbound/outbound traffic. Confirmed internet gateway: Properly attached to the VPC. I kindly request any troubleshooting steps or configuration suggestions to resolve this issue. Although technical support is not included in the Basic support plan, any advice you can provide would be invaluable.

  • Are you having public IP assigned to that VM?

Hi Sanjula De Alwis, Here is what I found which could help you figure out what could be the possible cause of the problem. https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AWSEC2/latest/UserGuide/TroubleshootingInstancesConnecting.html It would be helpful if you could also share the ERROR MESSAGE you receive while trying to connect.

I also wish to request you to please do share the solution with us if you happen to solve it.

Thank you.

Best, Sonam

Were you able to connect before or is this the first time you are trying connect to your Ubuntu EC2 Instance?

You might try using the data on your phone for your internet. My ISP was causing a problem like this and I accidentally found this to work. And then, someone explain why this works.
