[UPDATED MESSAGING][Action may be required] Impact of upcoming Google Chrome third party cookies for Amazon Connect

0

Hi Team,

I got the below notification from AWS to aws connect. Do we need to anything for this ? Do we need to take any action on this ? I am little confusion for this.

Hello,

[This is an update to the previous communication sent on December 2, 2023]

If you are an Amazon Connect customer using the Amazon Connect agent workspace or Amazon Connect Contact Control Panel (CCP) standalone you can disregard this message.

Google Chrome has announced [1] an update that will begin to block the use of third party cookies (for example, cookies shared between separate top level domains) in January 2024. Amazon Connect relies on third party cookies for single sign-on when the Contact Control Panel (CCP) is embedded in an iframe - either hidden or visible. This feature will be enabled for 1% of Google Chrome browsers in Q1 and Q2 2024, but will be expanded to all browsers during Q3 2024.

Please see a list of your affected resources in the 'Affected resources' tab of your AWS Health Dashboard.

While we are working closely with Google to make sure that this change does not impact Amazon Connect customer agents, we are advising customers who want to take more proactive steps that any one of the following three steps will be effective as well:

  • For all customers using a custom agent application, third-party solution, or who embed CCP into another application, we recommend that you upgrade your StreamsJS version to one of the following versions (or later): 1.7.8, 1.8.2, 2.4.12, 2.6.8, or 2.9.0 by December 29, 2023. Note, customers using the Amazon Connect agent workspace or Amazon Connect Contact Control Panel (CCP) as a standalone application are not affected by this change and do not need to take any action.
  • For customers using Salesforce CTI Adapter, we recommend that you upgrade to version 5.21.1 or later.
  • Customers can also deploy a Chrome Enterprise Policy [2] to allow the use of third party cookies for Amazon Connect and maintain the same login experience for your users.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact AWS Support [3], your Technical Account Manager, or consult our support documentation [4].

If you're using a custom CCP yes, you need update the streams library of at least 1.7.8, 1.8.2, 2.4.12, 2.6.8, or 2.9.0. If you're not using a custom CCP then you're good to go.
