Why do I get Your account is not authorized to invoke this API operation on Bedrock?

0

I had been using some models for a while, both from the playground and the API. However, I recently lost access and can't even do a single operation in the web console.

I can't make any API requests either. I'm 100% sure I have the right permissions in my account because it worked a few days ago without any problem.

  • I also have the same error. Did you manage to resolve this? I cannot access any models that used anymore.

Is it possible that some of new API actions were added between the evaluation of Bedrock and the general release of the service?

This to consider:

What IAM permission do you have attached to your user? Does those IAM permission allow access to all of the Bedrock API actions. From memory the service was split into Bedrock (Control Plane Actions such as listing models and initiating training jobs etc) and Bedrock Runtime (Invocation of Bedrock Models).

Are there any SCP policies applied to the account level that might be blocking access to Bedrock?

After setting up a custom model Fine-tuning job job, clicked on "Fine-tune mode" button, getting "Your account is not authorized to invoke this API operation. Do you know why?

Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for reaching out!! Please make sure you're accessing Amazon Bedrock from AWS Console (and not the private preview access). Bedrock is now GA since last week of September 2023.

From the screenshot that you've posted in your question, I do not see some of the options like custom models, image playground, and provisioned throughput. The attached image below is from Amazon Bedrock service and as you can some additional options compared to the image you've posted.

If you're still facing the same error, please raise a support ticket and our service engineer can help here!!

Thanks,

  • Thanks for your response. Unfortunately the error persists. I'm accessing from the AWS console and still getting the error. It's weird because I can't access anything, not even the settings or model access panel.

There's another person here in re:Post that is having the same problem too.

I opened a ticket, hopefully I can get an answer soon.
