Supported versions for Tomcat with AL2023

0

Hi,

I used AL2 with Tomcat8.5.x, to be used as a service, that was installed using the amazon-linux-extras. Currently, I am planning to move to AL2023, and as know AL2023 does not have extras.

https://aws.amazon.com/linux/amazon-linux-2023/faqs/#:~:text=Q%3A%20Does%20AL2023%20have%20Amazon%2DLinux%2DExtras%20like%20AL2%3F

I am trying to install Tomcat 8.5. Using the following command at AL2023, it shows the available one is (Tomcat9 only): sudo dnf list | grep tomcat

Anyone can help: Is the Tomcat 8.5 supported by AL2023? and how to install it to be used as a service, not standalone like the following question: https://repost.aws/questions/QUxJyO-GtaSXesjCpv7InqXg/amazon-linux-2023-tomcat-versions-available

Thanks!

Hi, do you know that Tomcat 8.5 has been announced as EOL: https://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-85-eol.html ?

Maybe you want to switch right now to v9

Best,

Didier
