Single shared material for multiple models?

Is there way to assign multiple models to use single shared materials?

I've modeled set of simple concrete foundations, with all of them using same textures and materials, in Blender and when importing via .FBX importer, asset processor generates own material for each of the models, and there doesn't seem to be way to edit model's material path to refer to single material file.

Am I doing something wrong in Blender/exporter?

Having own material file for every model seems to be wasteful and makes later adjustments and changes harder.

Hello @REDACTEDUSER

At this time the Graphics Team is working very hard on that system and will be re-introducing this feature in the near future, in the meantime multiple material callouts are the way around it. Sorry for the inconvenience this may cause in the interim, but we are on the case!

Thanks!

I haven't messed with fbx exports that much yet, but are you not able to assign a material override to the entity in the level? You could place all exports in one scene, assign the material to them, and then slice them for future use.

That's possible, but will complicate matters everytime when adding meshes to entities and etc.

I exported fbx files from Maya and ran into the same issue. @REDACTEDUSER

Thanks, that sounds good! I hope that in the upcoming feature you can easily set batch of models to refer to single material.
