How to increase innodb_page_size in RDS?

0

Hi,

We are getting

Row size too large (> 8126). Changing some columns to TEXT or BLOB may help. In current row format, BLOB prefix of 0 bytes is stored inline.

Error in the RDS when we are trying to create the table. I think it due to the large size of the rows. The possible solution is to increase the innodb_page_size? AFAIK, you can do that while setting up the RDS but I am not getting any option in parameters or anything to set that.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to increase the innodb_page_size parameter in Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) for MySQL, Amazon RDS for MariaDB and Amazon Aurora MySQL-Compatible Edition (Amazon Aurora MySQL). Currently, innodb_page_size is not modifiable parameter.

Instead of increasing innodb_page_size, there are a few alternative approaches you can consider to address the "Row size too large" error:

  1. Consider changing some of your larger columns to TEXT or BLOB data types, as suggested in the error message. This allows MySQL to store these values off-page, reducing the size of the row stored in the main table.

  2. Use ROW_FORMAT=DYNAMIC or ROW_FORMAT=COMPRESSED: These row formats can help manage large row sizes more efficiently. Note: Amazon Aurora MySQL does not support ROW_FORMAT=COMPRESSED.

  3. Split your large table into multiple smaller tables, each with fewer columns.

Remember to always test any changes in a non-production environment before applying them to your production database.
