Accessing an old AWS root account

0

I have a need to start using AWS at work so logged in with my work email address to an AWS account i setup years ago. It's so long ago i can't remember what i set it up for or what i did with it.

The account i have is a root account and i can logon successfully but when i log in to the console everything says access denied.

  • In the organization console i can't see any organization details but just see the message: "You don't have permissions to access this resource."
  • The Billing and Cost Management console shows access denied for everything.
  • The IAM dashboard shows "You don't have permission to iam:GetAccountSummary. To request access, copy the following text and send it to your AWS administrator. "
  • The support dashboard shows "You don't have the necessary IAM permissions"

Is there anything i can do to use this account ?

Hi Andrew,

I've found a doc on troubleshooting access denied issues for your account root user.

If you're still having trouble, I advise reaching out to our support team by creating a support case. If you're unable to do so within your account, you can reach out here, no login required.
