Claude 4 Sonnet rate limit at zero??

0

Getting 429s on every Bedrock inference request to us.anthropic.claude-sonnet-4-20250514-v1:0; not a single one has gone through. Claude 4 Opus, strangely, works fine.

Filed a ticket last week and it's barely moved. I'm not sure if this qualifies as a "rate limit increase" so much as a bug, but AWS doesn't let me file a bug report without paying for a technical support plan (that I don't need). And I'm not sure the initial responder understood the actual problem...

Has anyone else experienced this?

I am facing same issue. Not a single request was successful. It happens at arbitrarily low invocation/token rates

Based on the information available, it appears you're experiencing an issue with rate limiting for Claude 4 Sonnet in Amazon Bedrock. This is similar to issues other users have reported with Bedrock models where they receive "Too many requests" errors even on their first request.

The issue might be that your quota for Claude 4 Sonnet has been set to 0, which would explain why you're getting 429 errors on every request while Claude 4 Opus works fine.

For quota-related issues like this, the recommended approach is to contact AWS Support under "Account and billing." Due to high demand for these models, AWS is prioritizing customers who are actively using their existing quota allocations, which might explain why your support ticket hasn't seen much movement.

Since you've already filed a ticket (case 174794924600523), you're on the right track. You might want to clarify in your ticket that this appears to be a quota issue where your Claude 4 Sonnet quota may be set to 0, rather than a general rate limit increase request.

You can check your current quota values in the Service Quotas section of the AWS Console to confirm if this is indeed the case.
