CPU utilization has gone up after April 7 scheduled us-east-1 maintenance

0

Hello,

My instance's CPU utilization, as shown on the Lightsail dashboard, has always been around 1-2%, with occasional small spikes. This has changed on April 7 around 1:00 am Eastern Time (5:00 am GMT), and now the CPU utilization is always around 4-5%, without any change on my part or a rise in my website's traffic. That time is exactly the time of a recent Lightsail scheduled us-east-1 maintenance, so I am guessing it is the result of that maintenance. Do you know what the reason for the rise is?

Thank you.

During scheduled maintenance the instance typically stops and starts. Check your server logs to see if any new errors are appearing. For example, a pending change to server configuration or new software change might not apply until the server is restarted.

  • Thank you for the suggestions.

    1. I had thought about restarting the instance and did so on April 7, a few hours after the maintenance window, with no visible effect.

    2. I did not think about checking the logs (I am not very Linux-conversant). I looked just now in syslog and the only possibly relevant error I see is: amazon-ssm-agent.amazon-ssm-agent... ERROR EC2RoleProvider Failed to connect to Systems Manager with SSM role credentials. error calling RequestManagedInstanceRoleToken: AccessDeniedException: Systems Manager's instance management role is not configured for account This error appears once every 30 minutes or so. I have no idea if it was there before the maintenance, nor what it means, nor how to get rid of it. Any insights?

    Thanks again.
