First time starting Cloudshell - AWS is asking me to verify my account

0

Steps that preceded this issue: 1. Running Windows, created an AWS root account under the Free Tier and added MFA, a budget and notification alert if the bill exceeds $zero. 2. Create a non-root account, added MFA and created a user group called "admin" with AWS default admin privileges and then added the new user to that group 3. Logged out 4. Logged IN as the non-root user 5. Invoked AWS CLI 6. Invoked the Windows Command prompt and successfully ran "version" and "ls" 7. Created an s3 bucket with the AWS CLI. 8. Back at the AWS console, decided I would try Cloudshell for the first time. That is when I was presented with "Unable to Start the environment. You must verify your account before accessing Cloudshell. To verify your account , contact AWS Support" I know that there are security advantages to using Cloudshell, so I would like to solve this issue. thanks!

Hello.

Even if you are using the free tier, you can open a case with AWS Support for free under "Account and billing".
Since this issue is related to your AWS account, you will need to check with AWS Support and consult with them.
https://docs.aws.amazon.com/awssupport/latest/user/case-management.html

Judging from this thread, it seems that the issue could be resolved by contacting AWS Support.

  • I was in the same situation in December 2023. The CloudShell team is one of the teams that needs a bit more time to validate brand new accounts. The AWS Support team worked with them (during the holiday season) and I was given access to CloudShell in a day or two, so hopefully you'll have a similar experience.
