Hi JHKim, Some of the key features that are new in MediaPackage Live v2 include:
- Channel groups: Multiple MediaPackage channels can share a common egress domain, simplifying CDN configuration.
- Low latency HLS delivery: MediaPackage v2 supports LL-HLS manifests which can dramatically reduce streaming latency on supported players.
- Per-manifest filter configuration: You can configure filters on each manifest in an endpoint.
- CMAF-ingest support: MediaPackage v2 can accept streams in the CMAF-ingest protocol, as well as HLS.
- Cross-region failover support: By using CMAF-ingest and MediaLive Epoch locking in combination with CloudFront Origin group policies, it's possible to create workflows that can seamlessly fail over between multiple AWS regions.
Enhancement of MediaPackage v2 is ongoing, so expect this list to only grow over time.

Hi JerryH,
The user guide for Amazon CloudFront provides instructions for how to set up a CloudFront distribution with MediaPackage. If you start with https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonCloudFront/latest/DeveloperGuide/live-streaming.html#live-streaming-with-mediapackage proceed up to but not including step 4 ("Enable header-based MediaPackage CDN Authorization"), because MediaPackage v2 utilizes OAC for access control instead of header-based authentication.
To see how to use OAC, refer to https://docs.aws.amazon.com/AmazonCloudFront/latest/DeveloperGuide/private-content-restricting-access-to-mediapackage.html

Are there clear, concise, step-by-step instructions for how to configure a Cloudfront CDN endpoint for this new version of MediaPackage?
Before it was dead simple to configure Cloudfront for MediaPackage -- it used to be built into MediaPackage, and all you had to do was check a box to enable it. For no apparent reason AWS removed this capability, and completely failed to provide (a) a reason for doing so, and (b) complete and accurate directions for how we can replicate the original functionality provided by that checkbox.
