Question about Email

0

Hello,

I do have a question about email. In my Lightsail instance, some notice email will be automated sent to customer by domain email, and it works well, but the problem is the send out email address is wrong. The details is below:

  1. I created the first Lightsail instance, and setup both simple email and work email. The instance can send notice message to costumer by the domain email box successfully.

  2. I used the backup snapshot to create the second instance and assigned a new domain. Then I setup work email for domain email address as well.

3. The second instance can send notice message to customer successfully, but the from email is shown some email address from the first domain, rather than the second domain. I tried to use plugin of "WP single email" to change send out email address, it does not work as well.

Could anyone give some advice? Thanks a lot in advance.

You'll need to reconfigure the mail server for the instance in order to use the correct domain.

What blueprint did you use? I don't use blueprints much, as I'm a 'roll your own' kind of guy, so I'm assuming that the blueprint has some kind of configuration script as part of the install process.

Hi David,

Thank you so much for your quick help. When you mention reconfigure mail server, do you mean some work about the DNS records?

Thanks,

No, I'm referring to the mail server itself. I'm not sure if the blueprint you are using uses postfix, sendmail, or qmail. But that probably needs to be reconfigured.

It could also be a mater of reconfiguring the instances hostname.
