GovCloud Bedrock Model Roadmap

0

Hello, I'm wondering if anybody has insight into when more (better) Bedrock models will be available in us-gov-west-1 or us-gov-east-1.

My organizations usage of bedrock is expanding, and would love to see some of the later versions of Llama or Nova Premier available in govcloud. I understand that the FedRAMP authorization process is long and tedious, just wondering if some of these authorizations for later models are already in motion.

Thanks!

Based on the current information available, AWS GovCloud (US) regions have a limited set of Amazon Bedrock models with FedRAMP and IL4/5 authorization. As of now, the following models are available in AWS GovCloud (US):

  • All Titan Models
  • Claude 3.5 Sonnet v1
  • Claude 3 Haiku
  • Llama 3 8B
  • Llama 3 70B

Specifically for Meta's Llama models, the Llama 3 Instruct models (8B and 70B) were made available in AWS GovCloud (US-West) as of August 1, 2024. There is also information indicating that Anthropic Claude 3.7 Sonnet is now supported in AWS GovCloud (US-West).

Regarding newer models like Llama 3.1 or Nova Premier, there is no specific public roadmap or timeline for when these might become available in GovCloud regions. The authorization process for FedRAMP High and DoD Impact Level 4/5 is indeed lengthy, as you mentioned.

AWS typically expands model availability over time, but without official announcements, it's difficult to provide specific timelines for when newer models might be authorized for GovCloud. If your organization's usage of Bedrock is expanding, you might want to reach out directly to your AWS account team for more specific information about upcoming model authorizations for GovCloud regions.
