HI,
Good to hear you're issue has been resolved and your outgoing messages are no longer being marked as spam. The free awsapps.com domain is not recommend to be used in production. It's a domain that is intended for testing and is restricted in terms of volume.
Kind regards, Robin

This is resolved. For posterity, I entered my AWS WorkMail account > Domains > and changed Default domain from the default (namecloudmail.awsapps.com) to the domain I had registered in the service.
Can't be sure if this was a transient issues unrelated to the domain and I co-incidentally made the above change or not, but if you are having this issue, try it.
