Hi,
There will sometimes be a delay between the usage and the charges being accrued for that usage i.e. when you checked your bill estimate was $1.85, that will likely not have been the charges till that exact point in time, but instead be from 1 or 2 hours back (as an example). Hence even after you released the Elastic IP, that 1 or 2 hours worth of charge could get added as bills catch up.
If the bill continues to increase further, please confirm that you do not have any other such unused Elastic IP and then contact AWS Support.
If you know how long your Elastic IP was unused and hence billed, you could check if the usage amount
in you bill line item approximately matches that e.g. if 22 days then, 22 x 24 = 528 hours.
