Unable to add Aurora read replica to existing MySQL RDS

I thought it was possible to add an Aurora read replica to an existing MySQL RDS. However, I am getting this "You cannot create a mysql to aurora-mysql read replica when the DB instance is a cross-region read replica master."

Hi there!

I believe what the error means is that you are creating a replica in a different region than the region where the primary instance is located. Is that the case? Can you try creating the replica in the same region as the primary instance?

Thank you,
