To properly use the asyncio and aiofile modules with the Amazon Transcribe Streaming SDK, you'll need to follow these steps:
-
First, ensure you have Python 3.7 or later installed, as asyncio is included in the standard library for these versions.
-
Install the aiofile package using pip:
pip install aiofile -
At the beginning of your Python script, import the required modules:
import asyncio import aiofile from amazon_transcribe.client import TranscribeStreamingClient from amazon_transcribe.handlers import TranscriptResultStreamHandler from amazon_transcribe.model import TranscriptEvent -
Make sure you've installed the Amazon Transcribe Streaming SDK:
pip install amazon-transcribe-streaming-sdk -
When using these modules in your code, you'll typically structure your main function as an asynchronous function using the
async defsyntax. For example:async def main(): # Your transcription code here pass if __name__ == "__main__": loop = asyncio.get_event_loop() loop.run_until_complete(main()) -
Within your async functions, you can use
awaitto handle asynchronous operations, such as file I/O with aiofile or streaming transcription with the SDK.
Remember to handle exceptions appropriately in your async code, as asynchronous operations can raise specific types of exceptions. Also, ensure your audio file path is correct when using aiofile to read the audio data.
If you encounter any issues, make sure all your dependencies are up to date and compatible with your Python version. You may also want to check your AWS credentials are properly set up if you're having trouble connecting to the Amazon Transcribe service.

Thanks for your guidance.
I am using Python version 3.13.1
I came across the below error, even I see that I successfully installed the aiofile package using pip:-
line 6, in <module> import aiofile ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'aiofile'
