Org pairing not working

1

I received an email stating

Test@test.com would like to add your AWS account 1X1x1X to their organization as a member account, using AWS Organizations.

To view the invitation, including which features are enabled, click the following link:
Accept Invitation

When I try clicking the link, it takes me to my org's invitation page but nothing happens. I have never paired this account with any other accounts.

Hi,

You need to accept the invitation using the credentials from the account that you invited to the organization. To make sure there are no saved sessions use Private Tab when opening the link.

  • I am already trying with my root user account. It has already been a day since the invitation is sent. I can't even see the other org and even the other org can't see me yet. Only thing is that I got an email saying an invitation is pending. Can it be a permission thing for root account?

  • It's not a permission issue; the root account has full permissions.

  • Let me explain the problem in greater details. We have org A which has several linked accounts and 1 management account (total around 8-9 accounts are added to org A). We have org B which needs to be paired with org A. Org B has only 1 management account.

Now the accept invitation email is received to the root account email address. When clicked on "Accept Invitation" it redirects to the Invitations page but nothing happens there.

So I figured it may be due to the fact that the management account in Org B has to be detached from the Org B in order to be able to be added as a general linked account to Org A. However, for doing that I would need to remove all IAM users which I can't as I have services running and using some accounts for the same.

Is there any easier way to link the accounts easily?

Hi Somic,

If you're encountering issues when trying to accept an invitation to join an AWS Organization as a member account, and the link doesn't seem to work as expected, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Use a Supported Browser: Ensure that you are using a supported web browser. AWS services, including AWS Organizations, may work best with modern and updated web browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge. Sometimes, using an outdated or unsupported browser can lead to issues.

  2. Check Browser Extensions: Browser extensions or add-ons can sometimes interfere with website functionality. Disable any browser extensions temporarily and see if that resolves the issue.

  3. Clear Browser Cache and Cookies: Cached data and cookies in your browser can sometimes cause issues with web applications. Try clearing your browser's cache and cookies and then attempt to use the link again.

  4. Try an Incognito/Private Browsing Window: Open an incognito or private browsing window in your web browser and use the link from there. This can help isolate any issues related to browser settings or cached data.

  5. Use a Different Device or Network: If possible, try using a different device (e.g., another computer or smartphone) or connect to a different network (e.g., a different Wi-Fi network or mobile data) to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, network-related issues can affect website functionality.

  6. Check AWS Console: Instead of clicking the link in the email, you can also try manually accepting the invitation by logging in to your AWS Management Console and navigating to the AWS Organizations service. Look for the invitation there and follow the prompts to accept it.

  7. Contact AWS Support: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's a good idea to reach out to AWS Support for assistance. They can help you troubleshoot the problem and ensure that your AWS account is properly added to the organization.

  8. Review Email Settings: Check your email client or provider's settings for any restrictions or filters that might prevent the link from working. Ensure that email content and links are displayed correctly.

  9. Invitation Expiry: Confirm that the invitation you received has not expired. AWS Organization invitations typically have an expiration date, and if the invitation has expired, you may need the inviter to send you a new one.

By following these steps and considering these factors, you should be able to resolve the issue and accept the invitation to join the AWS Organization successfully. If the problem persists, AWS Support should be able to provide more specific assistance tailored to your situation.

Please give a thumbs up if my suggestion help

I am having the same problem.

The invitation has been sent and shows up in the Invitation screen.

The email has arrived and has the "Accept Invitation" button.

When clicked, while logged in to the invited account, in a private window, nothing happens. It simply redirects to the invitation screen, which is empty.

What gives?
