It appears that the process for connecting Amazon Q Business to RDS and Aurora databases has changed recently. While previously there may not have been limitations on choosing these data sources, it seems that now you need to request access before you can connect to RDS (MySQL, Oracle) or Aurora (MySQL, PostgreSQL) databases.
The "Request Access" link you're seeing is not a standard part of the Amazon Q Business setup process described in the documentation. Typically, if you have the necessary permissions and prerequisites, you should be able to add these data sources directly from the Amazon Q Business console.
To connect Amazon Q Business to these databases, you would normally follow these steps:
- Sign in to the AWS Management Console and open the Amazon Q Business console.
- Choose "Data sources" from the left navigation menu.
- Click on "Add data source" on the Data sources page.
- Select the appropriate database type (RDS MySQL, RDS Oracle, Aurora MySQL, or Aurora PostgreSQL) from the list of data sources.
The fact that you're seeing a "Request Access" option instead suggests that either:
- Your AWS account may not currently have the necessary permissions to use these data source connectors.
- These connectors might be in a preview or limited availability phase, requiring explicit approval from AWS.
To resolve this, you may need to:
- Check with your AWS account administrator to ensure you have the correct permissions.
- Follow the link to contact AWS support and request access to these specific data source connectors for Amazon Q Business.
- Wait for a response from AWS support, who should be able to provide more information about the availability of these connectors and how to gain access.
If you need immediate access to these data sources, I recommend reaching out to AWS support through the provided contact link for the most up-to-date information and assistance with your specific account situation.

Hi, I have only basic support plan, which I'm not able to contact AWS support for this matter. Any other method can I try? I have the full admin access, I dont get it why previously all the databases were available but now I dont get to connect it?
RDS/Aurora data sources are no longer supported. You can either use Amazon QuickSight integration or Custom connectors.
