CPU Credit Balance Getting Zero

We have the Jenkins Server on EC2 instance, the CPU Credit Balance is automatically going to zero without any load on the instance. What are the alternatives for this issue so that CPU Credit Balance stays above zero?

Instance Size is 8gb, Instance Type is t3.medium

here are some key concepts about burstable instances

other than that, check if you are seeing the right metric aggregation is set to average or maximum, see the screenshot below

see this

here is some documentation about how to monitor the credit usage

finally, if you want to continue providing CPU credit even if you are running out of credits you can enable Unlimited mode

  • Just a small addition on the "unlimited mode" - it can be less cost effective than running a normal non-burstable instance type, it's worth looking into the m, r or c instance types instead
