Enabling IAM Identity Center Organization Instance on Free Tier
Hi,
I am confused about what effect on my Free Tier if I switch from Account Instance to Organisation Instance. It says here that "Free account plans will automatically upgrade to paid plan if you join AWS Organizations," But when I asked Q, it says this:

Q6. What happens when my account creates or joins an AWS Organization? When your account joins an AWS Organization or sets up an AWS Control Tower landing zone, your Free Tier credits expire immediately, and your account will be ineligible to earn more AWS Free Tier credits. Additionally, your free account plan will automatically be upgraded to a paid plan.

Amazon Q is likely referencing the Legacy 12-Month Free Tier (for accounts made before July 2025). In that former system, joining an organization was "safe" and didn't cancel anything. For your new account, the rules have changed.
Aargh.. I just created an organisation, but haven't switched to the Organisation instance. So that means I lost my free tier. Thanks, Q.
