Ah OK I'm starting to get that it's a separate service, with different pricing. I was under the impression I had AWS services free for 12 months, and the way Lighsail popped up first thing made me think it was part of the free tier service. I'll have to set up a bucket without Lightsail.
As you noted each service may or may not have a free tier and those tiers have different requirements. You can see all the free tier options at this page [1]. If you are interested in 12 months of free tier for Linux and an S3 Bucket, then you can look at an EC2 Instance and S3, both have a 12 month free tier option. See the link for details.
