Sending data from GCS to AWS S3 in different regions.

0

Hello!

I plan to transfer a large amount of data from Google Cloud Storage (GCS) to Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3. My AWS S3 bucket is located in Region A, and I have the ability to choose the region for my GCS bucket. My question is, if I select a GCS bucket in a different region, will it affect the speed of data transfer?

Based on logical thinking, I believe the answer is yes, but I want to confirm. The main reason for considering a GCS bucket in Region B instead of Region A is that the price is lower in Region B.

TIA

Hi User!

If you are using AWS DataSync (as mentioned in your tag), the performance is affected by the amount of data, I/O bandwidth achievable from the source and destination storage, network bandwidth available, and network conditions. Hence, the performance should not be limited by the location/region you choose for the GCS bucket.

Hope this helps!
